Can't reply to messages in Notification Center on iPhone 7

I got the new iPhone 7 Plus and I can't reply to messages from the Notification Center anymore. Whenever I swipe left to reply, it only gives me the option to clear the message. I don't think it's the new update because I had downloaded iOS 10 on my iPhone 6 and I was still able to reply to messages from the Notification Center just fine. Anyone else having this issue or know what to do? I've looked to see if there's a setting I'm missing somewhere but I can't find anything.

Also, whenever I get a banner Notification, sometimes they'll just hang there at the top until I swipe them away. This isn't a huge issue obviously but it is kind of annoying. I believe this might be the iOS because it was doing it on my old phone when I updated as well. Thanks in advance for any help!

I am having the same problem. Swipe the message in the lock screen, and the only option I have is to "clear." I have toggled the switches under settings, touch id, reply with message, and nothing. Please help! Thanks!!

I'm having this same situation. When I go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode - Allow Access When Locked, everything is turned on but I'm still not able to reply to messages in the Notification Center nor my lock screen.

Hi I also have a problem. I have a iphone5 with newest ios and when I am on lock screen and swipe left to reply to message all I get is reply or clear option. My other iphone se has option for view and clear. I would like to have the option to view the message and be able to continue sending messages back and forth instead of waiting for a reply. How do I do that on the iPhone 5

I have the same problem, it is not letting me press onto some of my messages on my iPhone 7 plus, the only option I have it delete, which I have been doing. Can anyone help please. I have just down loaded the lastedt IOS and its happened since then

I just got the iPhone 7 Plus. It was driving me nuts not to be able to reply in the notification center. I figured out that you have to turn off 3D Touch to be able to swipe and get the Reply and Clear options instead of just clear. So far I have only tested this with Messages, not any other apps or third-parties. However, this takes away all of the 3D Touch features. I don't mind not having the 3D Touch though, personal preference. Hope this helps you out! 🙂

You can always contact apple support and they will work with you through any problems. They can be reached at 1-800-MY-APPLE.

Also, I don't recommend ever putting your number out there, be careful with that.

Okay - ask if your phone is locked you •hold down on the notification • put in your password (if you have one) • the text should come up with a respond option . If your phone is unlocked just swipe down on the message and it will instantly show up .

Hello alexnicole99,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. I know how important being able to respond to Notifications is to you! Based on what you stated, the difference between your iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 is that your iPhone 7 uses the 3D Touch feature to respond to notifications from the Lock screen and in the Notification Center. Oh ok I got that figured out but now when I go to just tap on a notification in the Notification Center like normal, it doesn't respond. I have to 3D Touch everything to open it. Any way to fix that?

Thanks for that follow up. Yes, you can adjust the sensitivity of 3D Touch or test turning off 3D Touch, by going to Settings > Accessibility > 3D Touch. This would only give you the option to View or Clear if you swipe right to left on the notification in the Notification Center. 3D Touch has a lot of cool ways to interact with apps, so check out this article to decide if leaving 3D Touch on or off is right for your personal usage.

No I got the 3D Touch thing figured out but now my regular taps aren't working. For example if I get a Snapchat notification and I swipe down to my Notification Center to tap it and open the app, nothing happens when I tap on the Notification.

You may need to check with Snapchat for what they programmed their app to do when you 3D Touch their notifications, as that can be app specific to enable certain shortcuts and features. But, normally 3D Touch replaces a regular tap in Notifications in devices that support 3D touch, unless you turn 3D Touch totally off.

I have the same problem, when I get a notification from any app (Mail, WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc) and I tap it to open the app from the Notification Center nothing happens, if I restart my iPhone 7 it works for a couple hours but after a while the problem appears again, it's not a deal breaker but it's becoming somewhat annoying. I checked with my friend's iPhone 7 and he has the same problem
